  • Managed development of the BugFinders site, featuring such complexities such as a streaming video server, multi-language support and a mobile site.
  • This was more than just a development position – responsible for managing the team, liaising with external suppliers and helping develop the business and products.
  • As well as working with PHP/MySQL, a great deal of time was spent in using new technologies (eg, OAuth, Java and Python) and learning testing methodologies.

Big Eye Deers, Cardiff

  • Lead development of the new British Pathé site, featuring 90,000 videos and a massive database schema
  • The site is fed primarily by a MySQL database, but also features an Apache Solr schema on it’s largest data repositories.

  • Although a fairly standard site, it incorporated many external feeds in various formats (mainly XML, CSV and plain-text).

  • Designed and built Streamline, a purpose-built tool to aid procurement managers track their workflow and for directors to see company-wide trends.  There were some very complex things to put in this site, such as currency conversion and graphic data representation.
  • A major requirement for this was for the site to be non-OS specific.  To do that, the database was abstracted using Doctrine.

  • Developed this ecommerce site based upon the ‘drop-shipping‘ business model
  • Configured the site to automatically generate PDF invoices and purchase orders to send to the suppliers.  This was then integrated with their accounting system.
